A family-founded coastal hospitality concept: a shared home for surf, nature and connection. Brand identity, property design and guest experience come together in a premium communal stay with thoughtful comfort and room to slow down.
To create a welcoming home where people connect through surfing, shared meals and time in nature, with thoughtful comfort and care for the coast.
Founded around Stanley Yang and family’s GOOD ONES identity, the concept welcomes independent travellers, couples, friends and scheduled family or creative retreats. Connection is invited; participation is optional.

05 / THE COMPLETE CONCEPT
Project Brief
A brand, place and guest journey conceived as one experience. The following brings together the project’s creative direction and preliminary business framework.
01 / Purpose, positioning & audience
Mission
A welcoming home where good people connect through surfing, shared meals and nature, supported by thoughtful comfort and care for the coast.
Vision
A small, memorable surf house where guests return for the people as much as the waves. Easy connection, restful sleep, useful surf facilities and a warm welcome in every season.
The stay
A design-conscious premium hostel concept with shared accommodation and private-room options. Sociable common spaces sit alongside predictable quiet hours, clean wet-to-dry circulation and places to retreat.
Who it welcomes
Independent travellers and surf beginners; couples and friends; scheduled family stays; small creative and slow-coast retreat groups. Distinct programme dates and house rules keep the experience clear.
02 / Identity, brand language & applications
Identity
GOOD ONES / SURF HOUSE / TOFINO, BC. A rounded, friendly wordmark, a clear humanist type direction, generous spacing, simple wave motifs, small circular stamps and quiet linework.
Voice
Warm, direct and easygoing. “Grab a mug.” “Join the table.” “See you after the surf.” Photography centres real weather, natural light, cedar, wet boards and shared moments.
Taglines
Good people. Good waves. Come for the waves. Stay for the company. Make yourself at home.
Applications
Cedar arrival signage, room numbers, wave key fobs, caps, towels, mugs, totes, refill labels and welcome cards. Digital room cards, booking pages, a guest guide, social templates, daily conditions and retreat announcements.

03 / Property vision & space programme
The property reference
The concept explores the main house, suite and separate cottage at 1316 Lynn Road, in a forested setting across from North Chesterman Beach. Existing cedar character and shared living areas guide the design.
Arrival & gathering
A small welcome station, house map, local guide and luggage drop lead to flexible communal seating, shared meals, books and warm evening lighting.
Sleep & privacy
Private-stay options and considered shared rooms, with reading lights, curtains and lockable storage where feasible. Separate host areas, supplies, laundry and cleaning storage support the guest experience.
Surf-ready circulation
Board storage, a rinse station, ventilated wetsuit drying, boot benches, towel hooks and clear wet-to-dry routes.
Restorative spaces
A reading nook, covered-deck movement and quiet post-surf corners. The visual studies also explore cottage interiors, main-house rooms, a proposed forest sauna, an RV garden with one parked RV and an outdoor fireside.
Design intent
Warm cedar, cream textiles, coastal colours, durable materials and small, useful details. Proposed spaces and uses remain conceptual.
04 / Experiences & a day at the house

05 / Business concept, operations & care for the coast
Operating model
Core lodging through permitted shared and private accommodation. Optional depth through small retreats, hosted meals, locally delivered surf packages and a limited range of useful merchandise.
Model to develop
Room revenue = available beds or rooms × sold nights × average rate. Retreat contribution = package revenue − delivery costs. Project cost = acquisition + closing + works + fit-out + working capital + contingency.
Capacity, pricing and financial performance are not established by these visual studies.
House operations
Reliable hosting, housekeeping, linen turnover, wetsuit ventilation, maintenance, booking systems, utilities, insurance and programme delivery. Keep family stays, adult retreats and lively groups on clearly communicated dates.
Care for the coast
Keep and repair sound cedar finishes. Choose durable furniture, refill toiletries, washable materials, towel reuse and clear waste sorting. Work with local guides and makers, share coastal etiquette and respect existing communities.
06 / Development approach & project scope
Verify
Establish permitted accommodation and programme uses, guest capacity, building and fire requirements, parking, servicing, insurance, suite and cottage use, and any RV permissions.
Design
Measured layouts, final identity production, wet and quiet circulation, essential works, supplier quotations and a complete budget.
Open thoughtfully
Fit out approved rooms, train hosts, test guest flows and cleaning, pilot shared dinners, gather feedback and introduce retreats gradually.
Creative scope
Brand direction, mission, audience, identity applications, property programming, guest experience, operating-model framework and launch approach. Final vector artwork, fonts and production specifications follow the selected visual direction.
Presentation context
Generated concept imagery for a proposed project, based on the property reference. These boards show design intent rather than existing conditions, construction documents, an approved conversion or an investment forecast.
